Danish Oddities...

New countries, new habits, and, for all that I'm still in Europe, barely 2h from Paris by plane, life here is really different (understand weird).

danish food

The Danes love their ice-cream (called "Is" around here): minimum 4 "ice balls" in their cones, or, if its "Soft Ice" (what we call in France "glaces à l'italienne") then as it no aroma : just white and creamy, usually covered with cacao or chocolate chunks (not very tasty, but correct). Ice cream are eaten everywhere, with everything : usually topped with wipped cream or barelly warm meringue and marmalade.

Then you have bacon, fat, smoked, streaky, everywhere! Last night my parents and I went to a traditionnal restaurant...quite interesting food....

omelette topped with fat, fried bacon... lovely!

Then you have hareng, sweet and sour one : I quite like it actually, and their cheese and bread are delicious.

The beers are not expensive, but some have a strong taste of yeast "ce qui est bien mais pas top".

danish means of transportation

Here is the bicycle king, and so are boats... most roads are divided into three, pedestrian, bicycles and cars...I had been told about that before, but seeing how they go everywhere with it is rather daunting...

danish architecture

Danes love their woods, and when a tree dies, sometimes they turn it into weird totems, or sculpture... you can see a lot of carved woods in the countryside. The night before we came upon a children playground, consisting in a gigantic spiderweb with a wood spider bigger than me in its midle, carved mushrooms, cockroaches and beetles, and today, upon a vampire-totem!

then you had that pink and purple movie theatre (about the only one I saw around there, but then it was hard to miss that one) in Copenhaguen....

houses made of bricks, half-timbered or with a thatch roof, are everywhere and I really like them...
